Most of the credit should go to the University of Oxford. I think that the Harry Potter Oxford locations, both places that did and didn’t appear in the film, are the most reminiscent of the famous wizarding school. Is there a place in the UK that actually comes close to encapsulating the essence of Hogwarts in real life? George Heriot School in Edinburgh may have inspired Hogwarts with its turrets and house system, but that’s where the similarities end.
